It would be nice to have a setting to automatically be in "Do not disturb" mode during the weekend (or specific week days).
damn I am really sad to discover that there is no core feature for this
So I assume Slack owns this paid plug in? https://www.quiettime.io/ Pretty sad that such an important feature to help teams be able to work uninterrupted or manage time off isn't part of the base product
I agree it is crazy that you still get notifications at 10 on a Sunday morning from work colleagues working over the weekend when you are not on call.
Seriously. How is this not a thing?! Still!?
Yes! How the heck is this not already done? Just got woken up by idiot co-worker this sunday morning and spent 20min searching through settings in vain.
We have 2nd and 4th Saturday off. It would be a plus if we get it custom.
Really, already 1 year passed and still nothing. You already have schedule of dnd why it's so hard to just add weekdays?
unistalling slack from my phone until this basic feature is added
This would also be great for vacation/PTO time.
Would love to have it workspace-specific so that I can keep work Slack workspace silent during the weekend, but still receive notifications from personal Slack workspace.
I have been using this for over a year. I have IFTTT DM myself a /dnd for 24 hours command on Saturday and Sunday morning.
Note: you can only /dnd for up to 24 hours at a time.
@Angus Mak: Your applet perfectly fits my needs, but in Slack, the /dnd is not being picked up by Slackbot, I suspect because it is not sent on behalf of me but on behalf of the IFTTT app. Do you know a way to fix that?
@Bert Roos: I DM my own handle and it works perfectly, I noticed DMing slackbot directly doesn't work.
@Angus Mak: DMing my own doesn't work for me. It just shows as text. I figured out that Slack has a special API for chat commands: https://github.com/ErikKalkoken/slackApiDoc/blob/master/chat.command.md
@Angus Mak: You're a god amongst men.
@Vincent Tobiaz: Haha. Unfortunately, I was told that a command sent from IFTTT doesn't actually trigger the DND mode anymore. I wish Slack would at least let you snooze for 48 hours so people can snooze at the end of day on Friday.
@Angus Mak: I just learned that today as the first Saturday it has sent lol. But it was not easy reminder to myself that I could copy paste and use !
I have two jobs, and with that, 2 slack workspaces. One job I work on weekends, the other, Monday through Friday. This feature would be perfect for me, so I'm not interrupted by my other job's slack channel.
Not having this feature is the one thing that would prevent me from recommending Slack to colleagues in other companies. Setting working hours by the day should be standard functionality.
An option to snooze all notifications until a specific date and time (and then resume normal settings) would be very nice too
AGREE. Did this ever happen??
Super big deal for multinational companies. Australians just love interrupting my Sunday afternoons…
There is a blanket DND schedule you can set for yourself, or a whole work-space, https://get.slack.help/hc/en-us/articles/214908388-Do-Not-Disturb-and-snooze-settings
However, I would upvote a request to add the option of choosing distinct settings per day of week. Like setting the hours of operation in a google maps business.
As a user, I should have the option set DND hours by day.
Currently, DND setting is only a time range, and applies to all days equally.
I think I have a similar post about this where I want to be able to set a days of the week where I like to receive notifications.
@Tiffany Tse: Link it! I'll upvote that one too! :3
Or specific schedules for channels I don't need to care about most of the time but hate having to manually disable notifications for while I'm driving home from work and getting spammed.
